At Middle Sibling Productions, we breathe life into plays that have slipped through the cracks, while keeping community building at the forefront of what we do. We are a community built to break down the barriers in theater participation. As a producer and presenter of theater, we are driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance to be heard and that there are still so many parts of theater left to rediscover. From our community based outreach to our educational based programming, we are committed to giving everyone a voice and letting their stories be seen again.
We started back in the summer of 2022 with the realization that most productions are the same 20-30 plays on a constant loop. While there are many new works being developed, they end up being forgotten after a few years in favor of the accepted canon. We wanted to find a way to present all of these forgotten plays in a way that also included our community at every step of the way. This way our community could finally see themselves represented on stage and give everyone a chance to participate in this artform we hold so dearly.
Over the past two and a half years, we have presented plays to well over 500 members, tripled our programming, and have received over 250 five star reviews. Many of our glowing reviews talk about the communal feel of our group, along with the plethora of new theatre they are exposed to at no cost. The full state of MSP, as per our two year anniversary, can be found here. At this moment we are one of the only, one of the longest running, and one of the largest, communal theatre groups across the entire city.
Despite providing all of our programming for free or low cost, almost every part of what we do has a financial obligation. Since we believe in financial transparency and honesty with our members, attached here you can see our upcoming years budget overview. In summary, the payroll for our small staff already exceeds 1200$ per year along with spending over 800$ per year for online subscriptions alone. As costs continue to rise, and we expand our efforts, we expect our expenses to grow even more in the coming years.
Like many theatre companies, a large portion of our income is based on donations from our members and sponsors. The generous donations we have received so far have allowed us to compensate our leaders, build out an extensive library of scripts, and meet all of our financial obligations.
Your generous donation will allow us to sustain what we are doing and grow into the next stage of our company. Since our company is fiscally sponsored, all donations are fully tax deductible and directly help support our mission. Every donation, no matter how large or small, can help us with our mission. A donation of 3$ a month can cover our research into new plays and A donation of 10$ a month can help maintain our script database. All donations are carefully monitored and logged by our Executive Director and reviewed quarterly by our Board of Directors.
Donate in whatever way you can, and become a part of giving our community back their voice and bringing old pieces to new ears and hearts.
